How to set up and use 4chaty — knowledge base, escalation rules, channels and migrating from another chat tool.
Getting started
Account, site indexing and first answers
Open a free account, add your website address and 4chaty crawls your public pages on its own to build the initial knowledge base. Then paste a single line of script into your theme and the widget is live — about 15 minutes, no plugin and no card at sign-up. You choose which pages it appears on, when it opens by itself and what greeting it shows.
Knowledge base
Pages, documents, FAQs, cited source
The knowledge base gathers your site pages, uploaded documents, the FAQs you write yourself and internal notes you don't want published but do want used in answers. Content is split into passages and consulted on every question, and each answer can show its source — the page the information came from. When no relevant passage is found, the bot says plainly that it doesn't know instead of inventing prices or deadlines.
Channels: site today, WhatsApp and Messenger in the works
One assistant, one shared inbox
The website widget is the channel available today. The WhatsApp Business and Messenger integration is in the works: the same assistant will answer there too, from the same knowledge base and with the same refusal rules, and every thread will land in the team's shared inbox — so you won't set up your FAQs three times or keep three separate histories. Visitors are told they are talking to an AI assistant, per Article 50 of EU Regulation 2024/1689.
Escalation, reports and AI credits
Handover to an agent, resolution rate, usage
You define which topics skip the bot entirely and which escalate automatically: the conversation reaches an agent with the full history attached, so the customer never repeats what they already wrote. Reports show the no-agent resolution rate, the most frequent topics, the gaps in your knowledge base and AI credit usage. Usage is measured in credits, not per agent — add colleagues to the inbox without the subscription growing per seat.
Migrating from another chat tool
Intercom, Tidio, Zendesk, Crisp
We import FAQs, macros and help-center articles from Intercom, Tidio, Zendesk or Crisp, then top the base up with your own site pages — no manual mapping. Data stays hosted in the European Union, GDPR-compliant.
